The Mentorship Program
Weekly Support for Screenwriters Who Are Ready to Level Up
The next session of The Mentorship Program begins Monday, February 2, meeting every Monday from 8:00 - 10:00pm EST for two months.
This is a focused, community-driven mentorship for screenwriters who are serious about strengthening their craft, understanding the business, and building confidence in their voice—on the page and in the room.
Why This Program Exists
Too many writers are left asking:Where do I get reliable information?Who can I ask honest questions? How do I grow without waiting years for access?
Mentorship in this industry is often hard to find, it's gatekept, oversubscribed, or unavailable. This program was built to change that. Here, mentorship is consistent, practical, and human.Program Structure

The Outcome
Not only will this program give you tools and techniques to strengthen your writing—it will also give you the confidence to ask for what you need.
Because writing isn’t just about what’s on the page.
It’s about how you show up, how you speak about your work, and how you claim space for your stories.

where MENTORSHIP is real, practical,
and rooted in respect, not ego.
I’m a MENTOR, and I wear that with pride. I walk the walk, I talk the f*cking talk.
I’ve taught and lectured at film festivals, colleges and universities around the country:
Wesleyan University, NYU, New York Film Academy
The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Essence Film Festival, Antioch College, BRIC Media Makers
Federation of Drama Schools, Writer’s Retreat on Martha’s Vineyard
Women of Color Unite, The Craft Institute, Filmshop (The Writers Den)

For TV writers, the clock starts ticking immediately. If the first five pages don’t hook them, specifically Page One, agents check out and execs move on. This workshop gives you the precise tools to ensure your opening pages demand attention."
Outlining is often the hardest part of the process. In this workshop, we break down exactly how to 'outsmart' the structure, giving you the tools to build a solid foundation before you write a single scene.
Keynote Speaker at the 25th Anniversary of the African American Women In Cinema Film Festival
In 2025, I was a featured panelist at the prestigious Micheaux Film Festival. It was an honor to take the stage to discuss the craft of TV writing and connect with the next generation of diverse storytellers.
Presented by The CRAFT Institute, The Writers Retreat was spearheaded by Creative Director Craig T. Williams and Associate Creative Director Ash McKinnies, with operations led by Emily Goes. The leadership team also featured Film, TV & New Media Consultant Dr. Nsenga Burton and CRAFT Founder/Executive Director Dr. Monica W. Ndounou.
“Crafting Multidimensional Characters for Screenwriters” was a free Zoom workshop designed to help writers deepen their character work and strengthen the emotional engine of their stories. Attendees walked away with real, easy-to-use tools for building stronger character arcs, grounding their characters’ choices in truth, and making them feel alive on the page and unforgettable on the screen.

Sharing my rep journey in “The Agent Talk." The real play-by-play of how I got my represented, the mistakes I made, the wins I earned, and the small, smart moves you can make to get attention from agents and managers.
Getting into the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Writers Program was a huge moment for me (yes, the name is a mouthful , it used to be the HBO Writers Program). In this session, I shared my experience inside the program and pulled back the curtain on the process, including what I’ve learned from being part of several fellowships and labs over the years. I offered real insights into writing the application and essays that can give you a leg up, based on what actually works and what helped me stand out.

In my opinion, the Personal Pitch is the most powerful tool every creative needs, and it isn’t taught anywhere. It’s usually shared only in fellowships or very expensive classes. “Who are you?” and “Why do you write?” That’s the real heart of any pitch. In this seminar, I broke down how to build a Personal Pitch that actually sounds like you, and I gave away the real secrets of pitching yourself to a rep, a showrunner, or even an investor.
