Join The Development Room

Excited to begin.

You don’t need another screenwriting class.

You need a place to bring your questions.

The question about your protagonist.

The question about your ending.

The question that’s been keeping you from writing page 30.

That’s The Development Room.

For eight weeks, we’ll focus on the questions that shape every great screenplay and television pilot and help you develop your project with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Because great writing starts long before page one.

Bring your questions. Leave with clarity.

Every week we’ll tackle a different piece of the puzzle.

Character. Voice. Theme. Story engine. Scene work. Problem solving.

Writers will have opportunities to share pages, scenes, and story challenges with the room, receive feedback, and learn from the work being discussed.

Some weeks you’ll leave with new pages.

Some weeks you’ll leave with a breakthrough.

Both matter.

The goal is to help you develop a stronger story, a stronger process, and a deeper understanding of your work. And confidence - You can do this!

Craig T. Williams

Craig T. Williams is a writer, producer, and educator dedicated to helping writers develop stronger stories and sustainable creative practices.

A graduate of the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Writers Program, Craig has developed multiple television pilots and feature screenplays and currently has several projects in development, including Black Boys Don’t Sew, with Academy Award winner Viola Davis attached as Executive Producer.

For more than twenty years, Craig has helped hundreds of writers strengthen their craft, develop their voice, navigate fellowships, and move their projects forward through practical instruction, honest feedback, and real-world industry insight.

Questions writers often ask before joining.

Do I need to have a completed script to join?

No. Writers are welcome at any stage of the process. Whether you’re developing a new idea, outlining a project, or working through an existing draft, The Development Room is designed to help you move your work forward.

What kinds of projects are accepted?

Writers may bring television pilots, feature screenplays, short films, web series, or other narrative projects. The principles we’ll discuss apply across multiple formats.

Will I finish a script by the end of the program?

Not necessarily. The goal of The Development Room is not to rush you to a completed draft. The goal is to help you strengthen your craft, develop your project, and leave with greater clarity and a roadmap for what’s next.

How much writing experience do I need?

Writers of all experience levels are welcome. Some participants may be working on their first script while others may have completed several projects. What matters most is your willingness to engage with the process.

Will I receive feedback on my work?

Yes. Feedback is a core part of the experience. Throughout the program, you’ll have opportunities to share your work, receive constructive feedback, and learn how to evaluate your own writing more effectively.

Will you read my entire screenplay or pilot?

The Development Room focuses on development rather than full-script coverage.

Throughout the program, writers will have opportunities to share scenes, pages, story problems, and specific challenges for discussion and feedback. By focusing on portions of the work, we’re able to spend more time exploring the craft, character, structure, and storytelling choices that strengthen the entire project.

The goal isn’t simply to improve a script.

It’s to help you become a stronger writer.

Are sessions live?

Yes. The Development Room is a live, interactive experience. Writers are encouraged to participate in discussions, ask questions, and engage with the community.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded and uploaded to a private Zoom page accessible only to enrolled participants. If you need to miss a session, you’ll still be able to review the material and stay connected to the work.

Is this program right for beginners?

If you’ve never written before, probably not. The Development Room is designed for writers who already have some relationship to storytelling and are ready to develop a specific project with intention.

That said, you do not need to be an experienced screenwriter. Playwrights, authors, essayists, filmmakers, and other storytellers who are moving into screenwriting are welcome, especially if they have an idea they want to explore and are open to feedback, structure, and discussion.

The room is designed to support writers at different stages, but it is not a basic introduction to writing. It is a development space for people ready to engage with story, character, theme, and process.

The end of the program is not the end of the relationship.

The end of The Development Room is not the end of our relationship.

When you join The Development Room, you become part of the Craig-A-Verse, an ongoing community of writers, creators, and storytellers. While the formal program concludes after eight weeks, I remain available as a resource for questions, challenges, and conversations related to writing, filmmaking, and navigating the realities of a creative career.

I believe that growth as a writer happens over time. New projects emerge, opportunities arise, obstacles appear, and creative questions continue long after a workshop ends.

Many writers who have worked with me continue to stay connected, share updates, ask questions, celebrate wins, and seek guidance as they move forward in their careers.

Once you’re in the Craig-A-Verse, you’re family.

Included Bonuses

Your momentum continues.

The eight-week program may end, but the support does not. These two bonuses give you time, accountability, and a meaningful next deadline.

Bonus #1

60-Day Milestone Read

Growth takes time. Sixty days after The Development Room concludes, you’ll have the opportunity to submit the project you’ve been developing for a full read and personalized feedback from Craig. By then, you’ll have had time to apply what you’ve learned, make meaningful progress, and receive notes on a stronger draft.

Bonus #2

Bi-Weekly Accountability Check-Ins

The end of the program isn’t the end of your momentum. For two months after The Development Room concludes, you’ll receive bi-weekly email check-ins from Craig to help you stay focused, keep writing, celebrate your progress, and work through the inevitable obstacles that come with finishing a screenplay or television pilot.
